Panel Opening

On April 22nd the Junior League of Northern Westchester hosted a panel discussion on one dimension of human trafficking, the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children also known as CSEC.  We are pleased to present you with a series of audio recordings from that panel.  In this 11-minute recording you will hear from JLNW President Donna Richards and Gateways Committee Co-Chair Becki Fleischer as they provide an overview on this topic.  You can follow along with this audio presentation by opening the accompanying Power Point file titled “Opening Slides.”

Legislative Perspective

JL_Play_small  In this 11-minute audio recording you will hear from Hamra Amhed, Director of the Center for Legal Services at My Sister’ Place, a nonprofit organization working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking.  Hamra presents information on the legislative and legal aspects of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.  Hamra is a leading expert in the area of Immigration, Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking in Westchester County and we were fortunate to have her join our panel.

Direct Services

JL_Play_small  In this 11-minute audio recording you will hear from Janmarie Brown, Director of The Gateways Program at the Jewish Child Care Association in Pleasantville.  Gateways is the only therapeutic residential treatment program for victims of CSEC in New York.  Junior League members currently volunteer with the girls at Gateways twice a month.  In this recording Janmarie presents information on the direct services aspects of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.  She is a great partner with the League and we were delighted to have her join us.

Strategic Programming

JL_Play_small  In this 17- minute audio recording you will hear from Ali Boak, President and Co-Founder of the International Organization for Adolescents (also known as IOFA).  IOFA is an independent non-governmental organization addressing emerging issues affecting vulnerable adolescents around the world.  Ali presents information on ChildRight, the statewide strategic approach to the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.  Ali is a founding member the Westchester County Anti-Trafficking Task Force and we were lucky to have Ali on our panel.  You can follow along with this audio presentation by opening the accompanying Power Point file titled “ChildRight”.  For more information about ChildRight, please download the Westchester County Department of Social Services 2013 Safe Harbour Project plan from the IOFA website.
