Communities
For All Ages to Showcase at EXPO ‘08
The most powerful
approach to advance sustainability is to ensure the next generation has the
intellectual tools necessary to design effective products, processes, and
systems. Join the Intergenerational Signature Project Committee as they
participate in Students For a Sustainable Future EXPO'08 and learn how each of
us can become a catalyst for change among future architects and designers, builders
and scientists, craftsmen and computer wizards, policy makers and corporate
leaders!
Now in its third year, the EXPO was created to
highlight real world examples of sustainable development from business,
industry and government to middle and high school students throughout the
Lower-Hudson Valley Region and surrounding communities. Realizing that students
learn best from first-hand exposure to new concepts, the goal of the EXPO is to
introduce students to fields of study and career paths that will inspire them
to become part of the shift in thinking necessary to design sustainable
communities and institutions.
Interest in the EXPO continues to grow among schools
and corporations. Visiting and exhibiting students and teachers find the
experience unique and inspiring, supporting existing studies and introducing
new content areas to pursue. Corporate exhibitors, including government and
non-government organizations, have been thrilled to participate and are excited
by the level of interest and enthusiasm they see in this generation of
learners. EXPO'08 attendance is anticipated to approach 1,500 participants.
The JLNW will join corporations, non-profits and NGOs
across industries alongside students as they showcase the best practices in
sustainable development to middle and high school students from across the New
York's Lower Hudson Valley and Manhattan and surrounding regions. Exhibit
topics range and must demonstrate the interconnectedness of environmental,
economic, and societal considerations into programs, products and
practices.
